Haier Smart Home: 9M 2019 with accelerated roll-out of smart home promoting sustainable growth



- Continuous revenue growth of 7.7% to RMB 148.9 billion (9M/2018: RMB 138.2 billion)



- Net profit up 26.2% to RMB 7.8 billion (9M/2018: RMB 6.2 billion)



- Smart home ecosystems revenues increased by 55% to RMB 3.4 billion (9M/2018: RMB 2.2 billion)



Qingdao / Shanghai / Frankfurt, 30 October 2019 - Haier Smart Home Co., Ltd. (formerly known as Qingdao Haier Co., Ltd.) (D-Share ISIN CNE1000031C1, A-Share ISIN CNE000000CG9, "Haier Smart Home" or the "Company") successfully continued to grow in the first nine months 2019. The accelerated roll-out of its smart home ecosystem promoted sustainable revenue growth in a weak industry environment. From January to September 2019, the Company achieved an increase in revenues of 7.7% to RMB 148.9 billion (9M/2018: RMB 138.2 billion). With a view to Haier Smart Home"s global market coverage, 53% of revenues was generated in China and 47% in the rest of the world. The share of revenues generated in overseas markets rose by 5 percentage points. Compared to the same period of the previous year, the largest growth was recorded in Europe (+225%) and Southeast Asia (+22%). Net profit attributable to the parent company increased by 26.2% to RMB 7.8 billion.

Accelerated roll-out of smart home ecosystems

Smart home ecosystem revenues increased by 55% to RMB 3.4 billion; the smart home ecosystem margin rose by 3 percentage points to 15%. With its Smart Home ecosystem solutions, Haier Smart Home has actively prepared for the increasing dynamics of the IoT age and can thus realize new competitive advantages in the future.



By consistently developing individual products into smart home ecosystems throughout the entire house, Haier Smart Home, as the market leader in the area of household-based Internet of Things (IoT), meets the individual adaptation needs of users for smart home solutions. In the reporting period, Haier Smart Home actively contributed to the development of IoT ecosystems such as the Internet of Food, the Internet of Clothing and the Internet of Air. The increased use-value also increases consumer demand for comprehensive premium solutions, complete smart home sets and after-sales services.



Haier Smart Home further expanded its market leadership in the area of IoT standards, particularly in the Internet of Food segment, by developing international food traceability standards. In this way, also Haier"s Internet of Clothing offers users the best experience during the entire wearing, based on the IoT Life Cycle Management platform. By connecting raw material fields, factories, shops and houses to label garments with RFID "chip cards" and collaborating with the garment, textile, laundry and dye industries to create a shared smart ecosystem, Haier offers digital management of smart garments. Users thus receive solutions for the entire life cycle from purchase to washing, caring for, managing and matching garments. At the same time, the apparel industry is experiencing a boost to the value chain as a result of the IoT transformation. The Internet of Clothing promoted the use of IoT technologies in the apparel and textile industries, which improved the efficiency of commodities management companies using natural resources, increasing the productivity of input and output tenfold and reducing personnel costs by 50%.

Chinese domestic market - Strong growth momentum of high-end brand Casarte

With the high-end brand Casarte, Haier has successfully built up a market entry barrier in the segment of high-quality household appliances in the Chinese domestic market and can successively profit from the increasing realisation of revenues in an established market. In the first nine months of 2019, the high-end market leader Casarte realized revenue growth of 25% whereas the growth in Q3 was 42%. Casarte"s leading market share in high-end refrigerators and washing machines priced over RMB 10,000 amounted to 40.6% and 76.8%. Air conditioners priced over RMB 15,000 reached 41.2%.

Overseas market continue growth - Increase of more than 20%

In the first nine months of 2019, the revenue from overseas business of Haier Smart Home increased by 25%, accounting for 47% of group revenues. The focus of premium brands and efficiency enhancements contributed to results in overseas markets. In its high-end transformation, Haier Smart Home pursues a local 3-in-1 "manufacturing, marketing, research and development" approach to brand building and management structure. As a result, GEA was able to achieve a 12% year-on-year increase in revenues in a generally weak US household appliance market and significantly outperformed its domestic competitors. In Europe, the results of renowned Italian home appliances brand Candy, following the completed integration in January, improved substantially in the third quarter. Overall, the European market achieved a strong market performance in the first nine months with an increase of 225%. In the markets of South Asia, Southeast Asia as well as Australia and New Zealand, the operating revenue of Haier increased by 14%, 22% and 3%, respectively. Fisher&Paykel ranked No.1 in the white goods segment in New Zealand with a market share of 42%.
